MASTER PLANNING

Refined and modern are the best words to describe the planning and conceptualization for the first of its class, Mein Schiff 3. The sea and sky take center stage. New views are crafted from the ship’s distinctive forms, skyboxes offer a unique view of the sea from overhead, and all around, cabanas on the upper deck create private “for your eyes only” views, and a translucent, internal, grand circular staircase provides view points to the sky.

PERFORMANCE

The performance venues aboard Mein Schiff 3 and 4 are unprecedented on the high seas. The Theater, designed in a contemporary, clean aesthetic, occupies forward decks 3, 4, and 5 and seats approximately 1,000 guests. Elaborate theatrical productions can be presented on a fully-automated stage. The venue, like many state of the art land-based theaters, also supports complex rigging capabilities and performers’ flying equipment for added theatrical drama. A moveable, programmable LED video wall is installed on stage to allow for a magnitude of colorful scenery options and interactive video programming.

Klanghaus, a first-at-sea concert hall, seats over 300 guests. An Acoustics Control System (ACS) is installed for enhanced and “natural” sound that can be adjusted to each performance or event. Programming in this inspired space includes chamber music, small theatrical productions, films, and lectures.

HOSPITALITY

The Pool Decks were planned to provide guests with a variety of social and well-being experiences. These include: another first-at-sea, the 25mSports Pool with lap lanes, the Außenalster Bar inspired by the traditional German beer garden, and the enclosed pool and the pool deck stage, programmed for day and night entertainment.

The all-glass, enclosed “beach” pool was designed with cooler climates in mind, creating a year-round safe haven at sea. Inside, guests may choose from a variety of modern seating options, lounge around the pool’s perimeter in shallow waters, or seek shade within the blue glass mosaic grotto.

With wellness and sports a fast-growth priority among travelers, Mein Schiff delivers. The sports deck provides a flexible court for basketball, volleyball, and handball or can be transformed into a grand viewing area complete with stadium seating to watch your favorite spectator sport. In the evening, the space can become a cinema, with first-run movies playing on the large LED screen.

INNOVATION

Among the special features is the guest-favorite, Skyboxes. These open-air, glass-floored experiences are ideal for photo ops and star gazing, or for the thrill of hovering 36 meters above the sea below. They create a connection to the ocean that is unparalleled.

Another iconic element is the Crow’s Nest, equipped with a look-out telescope, offering passengers compelling views of the seas and exotic destinations ahead from one of the highest accessible locations on the ship.
