Designed by Wilson Butler Architects (WBA), the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion in Boston’s South End was the scene of a 10^th anniversary celebration hosted by the Huntington Theatre Company on September 29^th. The evening captured the energy of the Pavilion and its multiple performance venues that include the 360-seat Wimberly Theatre, the 200-seat Roberts Studio Theatre and the multi-use Deane Rehearsal Hall.

WBA directors Scott Wilson, Scott Butler, Bruce Herrmann and Tom Hains participated in the evening’s festivities. They were acknowledged by the Huntington’s managing director Michael Maso for the firm’s contribution to the Boston arts community, and to the success of the Calderwood Pavilion in revitalizing this now-thriving area of the city.

The Calderwood Pavilion opened to the public in 2004. It was Boston’s first new theater in 75 years!
In 2013, the Huntington Theatre Company won the Regional Theatre Tony Award for “displaying a continuous level of artistic achievement contributing to the growth of theatre nationally.”

Numbers help tell the story of the Calderwood Pavilion’s impact on Boston’s theater community since it opened a decade ago. The 10-year tally (through July 2014) was provided by the Huntington Theatre Company, which is the primary manager of the four venues at the Calderwood:

– Nearly 750,000 audience members

– 4,168 performances

– 316 productions

– 393,260 tickets sold by small and emerging theater companies

– 24 Huntington world and regional premieres

– 153 performing arts organizations have used the building for auditions, classes, rehearsals, and           productions
