The performance venues aboard the Mein Schiff series are unprecedented on the high seas. The Main Theater, designed in a contemporary, clean aesthetic, spans decks 3, 4, and 5 and seats approximately 1,000 guests. Elaborate theatrical productions can be presented on a fully-automated stage. The venue, like many state-of-the-art land-based theaters, also supports complex rigging capabilities and performers’ flying equipment for added theatrical drama. A moveable, programmable LED video wall is installed on stage to allow for a magnitude of colorful scenery options and interactive video programming.
The design concept and finishes from MS3 and MS4 have been completely reconceived for the Theaters on these two newer ships, while the second venue has been more dramatically transformed.
The Klanghaus (Sound Room) on MS3 and MS4 was a first-at-sea concert hall, seating over 300 guests, with a focus on chamber music. Inspired by the Berlin club scene, the space on MS5 and MS6 has been transformed into The Studio, a classics-meets-club environment with a more urban, “found space” décor, while maintaining versatile programming including music, dancing, small theatrical productions, films, and lectures.
